2nd Engineer - Deck

Job Responsibilities

  • Operate within the Code of Conduct
  • Operate according to Subsea 7’s Management Principles
  • Ensure that the equipment and all relevant systems are in complete working order and in compliance with all technical requirements.
  • Ensure that the equipment is checked in accordance with relevant check lists.
  • Organise the planned maintenance for the system and maintain complete technical records and logs, including any authorised modifications and special fits.
  • Has responsibility for the shift man management of the Deck Engineering Team on maintenance, assessment and competency scheme.
  • Participate in the continuous development and implementation of the Company's preventative planned maintenance and certification programme, ensuring all tasks are performed in accordance with Regulations, Procedures and Work Instructions.
  • Responsibility for all maintenance activities including: communication of equipment status to the Chief Engineer, 1st Engineer (Deck), . Also responsible for providing logistical and documentary evidence in support of this.
  • Keep a continuous record, reporting any defects as they arise. Utilise these records to prepare for refits and maintenance periods by ensuring that spare parts, materials, etc are available when required.
  • Carry out general operational team duties, planned maintenance and other duties as required.
  • Responsibility for ensuring that all equipment and stores used by the Equipment Group are in a satisfactory condition with regard to performance, maintenance and calibration necessary to carry out the operation.
  • Ensure the Subsea 7 operating procedures are adhered to in the day to day work execution.
  • Carry out general operational team duties as required.
  • Perform a thorough and detailed handover briefing prior to transferring control of work activities to a relief. This includes comfort/meal breaks.
  • Be fully aware of emergency and contingency procedures in accordance with safe working practices, company safety requirements and legislative requirements.
  • Responsible for striving to continuously improve systems and personal/team performance within the department and the Company, in conjunction with personnel within and outwith the department.
  • Active participation in the recommendation of training and development needs of Technical Team on Group Assets. (This covers both operation and maintenance.)
  • Active participation in the collation and upkeep of all documentation relating to equipment, including: PUWER and Task Risk Assessments; Operating Procedures; Maintenance Task Lists; Work Instructions; Technical Specifications; Photographic Records; SAP Maintenance System, TM Master, AMOSW or other vessel specific maintenance system.
  • Maintain efficient spares programmes for all Group Assets and ensure inventories are kept up to date.
  • Have a working knowledge of Industry Standards and Regulations to help ensure ongoing legislative compliance of all existing Group Assets.
  • Rectify any defects, as defined by safety audits/inspections, in accordance with safe working and operational practice.
  • Assist with the preparation of technical reports relating to the performance of maintenance and operation of Group Assets.

Skills
  • Candidate must be willing to work on the deck with lay equipments such as cranes, winches and tensioners.
  • At least 3-4 years of relevant working experience on pipelay vessel would be highly advantageous
  • STCW 2nd Engineer unlimited Certificate of Competency, meeting legislative requirements of the Flag State
  • Recognised Seaman's discharge book
  • Experience on any similar types and size of vessel. For Example: Rigid Pipelay/ Heavy lift, Diving , Renewables & Heavy lifting , Construction / Vertical Flex-lay and Construction/ Horizontal Flex-lay .
  • High voltage qualification for service in designated high voltage vessels.
  • New recruits to the Company should have a minimum of “1” year’s rank experience.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing in accordance with STCW Code Table A-II/I
  • Hold at all times a valid Seafarers Medical fitness certificate and opito approved offshore survival certification
  • Must be physically fit and clear of any underlying medical conditions prior to travel for work
