2nd Officer

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Lead by example and place Quality, Health & Safety, Security, and the protection of the Environment as core values while never intentionally placing employees, our processes, customers, or the communities in which we live and work at risk.
  • Obligated to execute the safety- and environmental policy on board.
  • Acts as the dedicated Safety Officer when the vessel does not have a designated safety officer on-board as assigned by the Master.
  • Comply with international legislation, flag state requirements, accepted industry standards, Company decrees and contracts; executing activities assigned by the Master or Chief Officer.
  • Motivate and stimulate the vessel’s Personnel.
  • Maintain contact with the Master, Officers, and Crew.
  • Support the Master with regard to the execution of the policies and procedures.
  • Management and maintenance of the safety equipment and firefighting equipment under supervision of Chief Officer as appropriate.
  • Management of the vessel’s hospital and medication under supervision of Chief Officer as appropriate.
  • Keep the vessel’s administration and nautical books up to date under supervision of Chief Officer as appropriate.
  • Contribute to the objective that the ship is always available to be deployed in a safe and efficient manner to carry out the voyage, the contract, the job or the project.
  • Stand watch as Officer of the Watch.
  • Transfer knowledge and/or train personnel assigned to work under supervision.
Skills
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions.
  • Possess the ability to obtain a valid passport for international travel.
  • Possess current driver’s license with acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Possess a High School Diploma or two years of college/technical training preferred.
  • Have 1 year or more as a 2nd Mate or in a similar role.
  • Competent, at management level, to undertake the tasks, duties and responsibilities as a Second Officer.
  • Experience on Fugro Vessels is a plus.
     

The following valid certificates are a minimum requirement for this position

  • Certificate of Competence for the vessel.
  • Flag state certificate.
  • Flag state Seaman’s Book.
  • Flag state Medical certificate.
  • GMDSS General Operator certificate.
  • Basic training certificate.
  • Proficiency In Survival Craft And Fast Rescue Boats Certificate.
