We at Bahri are looking for a Assistant Fleet Manager to join our Chemical Fleet team in Dubai.

Onshore experience in a similar role is essential, Chemical Fleet expertise strongly preferred.

Job Purpose

 

Assist in managing fleet operations, budget and maintenance activities. Assist in managing execution of effective and cost efficient technical support to and inspection of all Group Fleet vessels and ensure compliance to regulations and legislations. Perform duties and responsibilities of Fleet Manager during his absence from office.

Responsibilities

Provide input to the annual plan of the department related to own unit. Assign tasks and oversee performance as directed by Fleet Manager to ensure achieving the objectives in the annual plan of the unit.

 

Adopt and apply new professional strategies and policies within the area of responsibility in accordance with management directions.

 

Guide the team to set their annual objectives and assign tasks to the team members. Monitor daily activities in line with the assigned tasks. Train and coach team members.

 

Manage and monitor the performance of the Unit/Team within the assigned annual budget.

 

Assist in overseeing vessel operations and liaising with port authorities as and when required. Ensure compliance to vessel security standards and regulations.

 

Review and develop potential improvements, implement solutions of technical issues.

 

Oversee execution of all planned maintenance activities on vessels. Oversee and monitor the overall technical operation of the vessels, ensure the timely and accurate completion of dry-docking and other relevant shipboard maintenance and repair activities.

 

Oversee and ensure SIRE inspections and class surveys are conducted and the vessels possess the required technical certification at all times. Ensure maritime registers are updated and maintained.

 

Oversee execution of safety inspections and technical audits on vessels, in order to identify technical issues and subsequent implementation of to corrective / preventive actions. Ensure compliance to safety standards and maritime safety regulations.

 

Skills

Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Chief Engineer, or Master mariner certificate.

5-8 years of experience in commercial shipping / Maritime is preferred.
