Cargo Superintendent

Job Responsibilities

  • Process Safety: Contributing to major accident hazard management, influencing business decisions impacting process safety, and preventing, detecting, controlling, mitigating, and responding to major accidents.
  • Incident-Free Operations: Committing to and fostering a culture of incident-free operations.
  • Marine & Deck Activities: Overseeing marine and deck activities to protect health, safety, and environmental welfare.
  • Work Program Execution: Ensuring work programs are prioritised, resourced, and executed safely and efficiently to meet business goals.
  • Relationship Building: Building strong relationships with other departments and shifts.
  • Heading Control/Station Keeping: Managing heading control and station keeping.
  • Marine Systems Management: Operating cargo storage, ballast control, and power management systems while ensuring compliance with asset verification standards.
  • Lifting and Rigging Operations: Supervising lifting and rigging operations, ensuring equipment maintenance, certification, and risk assessment.
  • Safety Systems: Managing safety systems for evacuation, helicopter operations, and lifesaving appliances.
  • Direct Report Management: Coaching and supporting direct reports professionally.
  • Cost Control: Controlling costs within the scope of responsibility.
  • System Inspection and Maintenance: Ensuring marine systems, structures, and moorings meet verification standards.
  • Future Planning: Contributing to future work program and budget planning.
  • Asset Team Contribution: Delivering continuous improvement, optimizing crew, and managing contractors onboard.
  • Equipment Optimization: Recommending changes to improve performance, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Handover Compliance: Ensuring comprehensive handover detailing in accordance with company procedures.
  • Training and Assessment: Committing to training and competence assurance activities appropriate to the role
Skills
  • STCW Regulation II/2 (Chief Mate) with experience in an FPSO supervisory position.
  • Preferably holding a Master's Certificate of Competency.
  • Tanker Endorsement (Oil).
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with peers and stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Dynamic Positioning (DP) or TAMS experience, with DP Advanced Training.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical issues clearly and concisely.
