STCW 95 (A-III/2) Certificate of Competency (Chief Engineer Unlimited) meeting legislative requirements of the Flag State.
Experience of more than “7” years as independent watch keeping officer.
Experience on any similar types and size of vessel. For Example: Rigid Pipelay/ Heavy lift, Diving , Renewables & Heavy lifting , Construction / Vertical Flex-lay and Construction/ Horizontal Flex-lay .
High voltage qualification in compliance with STCW for service in designated High voltage vessels.
Recognised Seaman's discharge book
Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing in accordance with STCW Code Table A-II/I
Fully conversant with Flag State Maritime Law / Legislation
Fully conversant with ship's Safety Management System (Ref: ISM Code)
Attend appropriate training courses as required to maintain competency and Subsea 7 standards of vessel and its equipment operation.
Completed Security Awareness training relevant for the position (Ref: ISPS Code)
Hold at all times a valid seafarer medical fitness certificate and offshore survival certification suitable for geographical area of work.
Skills
Safe and efficient running of the Technical Department
Being available for 24 hour call out but not normally as a watch keeper
To ensure that the vessel, all vessel equipment is maintained and operated in an efficient and cost conscious manner and kept in a condition of readiness for operation. To advise the Vessel Superintendent, Master and Offshore Manager where there are items of concern which may affect operation or production. This includes permanently and temporarily installed auxiliary equipment (e.g. lay-equipment, ROV etc. as applicable).
Technical maintenance of the ship's cranes and other assets
Technical maintenance of ship's critical asset wire ropes
Maintenance of stores, spares and equipment necessary for the technical department and specialist equipment.
Fuel and lubricants (ordering/purchasing as approved by the Master)
Ensure the effective implementation and improvement of the planned maintenance systems of the vessel and survey/inspection planning with respect to maintaining the vessel’s class and other certification.
The upkeep of the vessel’s technical library, manuals and technical information
Ensure the certification package is in date and complies with Flag State and Class requirements.
Responsible for ensuring that all members of the engine room department are thoroughly conversant with the oil in navigable waters legislation and the accurate upkeep of the oil record book.
Shipboard training/familiarisation and assessment of officers and other crew members within their department.
Provide services and/or assistance as requested by the Project Team or as instructed by the Master.
In cooperation with the Vessel Superintendent, prepare dry docking specification and work scopes.
Control of Substances Hazardous to Health in their department.
Garbage and waste management according to internal and external requirements.
Responsible for implementation of and compliance with relevant parts of the Subsea 7 Management System within their department, and for co-ordination of any interfaces with the other department heads onboard.
Responsible for maintaining ship's security within their department (in port and at sea).
Assist the Master in conducting Master's Review in accordance with the ISM code.
Responsible, within their field of influence and authority, to the Master to ensure that their department's operational and investment costs are kept within Offshore Resources approved budget for their department. They shall also assist the Master in drawing up budget proposals for their department.
