Fleet Personnel Manager

Job Responsibilities

Your main task is the controlling and ensuring of timely, accurate and qualitative manning of all the vessels in our Management, according to the vessel type requirements, contractual agreements and client requirements, in order to support the effective operation of the vessels in our Management.

You are in charge for leading our Fleet Personnel Team with the roles of Senior Fleet Personnel Officers, Fleet Personnel Officers, Training Officers and Assistants. You actively manage the performance, training and development or your department members and ensure that they have the appropriate knowledge, skills and support that will help them to contribute to the department’s and individual objectives. Further development and continuously improvement of the processes and operations of the department fascinates you and helps you to be efficient and ensure full compliance with all policies and legislation at the same time.

You promote and maintain relationships to the Crew on Board, to our clients and to our local and international BSM network – in strong cooperation with all stakeholders involved, you review and analyse issues raised and lead the development and implementation of solutions.

As a member of our SMC’s Management Team you contribute to the way how we work and communicate as a company.

Contribution to internal and external audits as well as international projects will complete your tasks.

Skills

As an ideal candidate

  • You are holding a degree in a maritime field combined with a strong knowledge of vessels’ crew requirements and seafarer specifications, collective agreements, maritime labour law and knowledge of the maritime legal framework
  • You bring minimum 5 years’ experience in Crew Management including recruitment, training and development methodologies, ideally in Ship Management
  • You are passionate about the Human Element of our industry – be it the seafarers or the colleagues in the office – and have already collected 2 – 3 years’ experience in leading a team, ideally in a multi-cultural and diverse team environment
  • You are a strong communicator with a can-do-attitude
  • You bring excellent time management and organisational skills
  • You can provide project management and negotiation skills
