Marine Advisor (Fleet Support)

Job Responsibilities

Duties of the Marine Advisor can involve but are not limited to:

  • Provide assistance to ensure that all Flag State external audits are completed within regulatory limits.
  • Provide assistance to ensure that all findings from Flag State external audits are tracked to close out and Flag State notified.
  • Conduct internal ISM, ISPS and Vessel Assurance Audits as per the vessel audit schedule and as directed by the DPA/CSO.
  • Contribute to the daily management and continuing development of the Subsea 7 Fleet Safety Management System.
  • Monitor HSEQ statistics in co-operation with the HSE Group.
  • Investigate, resolve, and report on accidents and Nonconformities that arise within the fleet over the year.
  • Maintain the OR HSEQ Legislation Database and track new legislation requirements (as directed or nominated by the DPA).
  • Assist with the Vessel Assurance Scheme and help to administer the Vessel Assurance Matrices.
  • Participate in audits carried out by external parties when requested.
  • Liaise with clients, Vessel Superintendents, and vessel(s) owners regarding marine matters.
  • Liaise with Project / Operations HSEQ Advisors to establish requirements and provide assistance if possible.
  • This position has a high-level safety criticality rating as the position itself is a monitoring and managing function concerning the assessment of risk.
Skills
  • You will have a relevant professional marine qualification or significant experience in a shipping or offshore related environment.
  • You will have a good knowledge of all marine legislation, including ISM and ISPS codes, offshore industry standards and ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
  • Ideally you will have auditing experience and relevant qualifications.
  • You should have a broad range of maritime and vessel knowledge, as well as a thorough knowledge of marine activities relative to vessel operating parameters.
  • You will have a broad understanding of the offshore energy industry
  • You should be a strong communicator, able to speak with all levels within the business, who is comfortable working on their own and as part of a team and have strong coordination, organisation, and liaison skills with the ability to seek and gain consensus solutions to complex issues.
  • You should be fluent conversing in English in both written and spoken word. Being proficient in other languages is a strong advantage.
