Marine Engineer

Job Responsibilities

  • Concept, front end and detailed design of port infrastructure and coastal engineering projects
  • Preparation of design drawings and supporting calculations
  • Liaison with other disciplines during the design process
  • Participation in client workshops, safety reviews etc
  • Inspection and assessment of existing marine infrastructure
  • Providing p roject and study m a nagement with support when required

As a Marine Engineer, you will have knowledge of design, planning and project management in delivering nearshore/coastal Civil & Structural infrastructure. You will ideally have some experience of working as part of a team developing a range of terminal and port solutions from initial concept through to detailed design for implementation. Applications from recent Civil / Structural /Coastal Engineering Graduates will also be considered .

Skills

 

  • Primary degree or postgraduate qualification Civil/Structural Engineering or Coastal Engineering
  • Working toward chartered Engineer status
  • Basic knowledge of navigation principles
  • Experience in design and delivery of coastal and harbour infrastructure ( e.g breakwaters, piled jetties/trestles, quay walls etc.)
  • Experience in the use of structural analysis software packages such as SAP2000, Staad Pro, MIKE, PLAXIS
  • Understanding of marine and coastal infrastructure design
  • Understanding of general geotechnical principles
  • Familiar with relevant designs codes such as - BS6349, EC2, EC3, EC7 , PIANC etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel occasionally for short term international assignments
