Key Responsibilities

  • To ensure that the marine plant and systems are operated in a safe and efficient manner
  • Monitoring weather conditions and wind directions advising OIM / CCR in emergency situations.
  • Responsible for all deck and marine operations.
  • Responsible for the line management of the deck team.
  • Liaising with the Maintenance Supervisor, allocate planned maintenance tasks to Marine & Deck personnel.
  • Ensure the correct and accurate completion of Marine Department Data and reports, including marine barge logs, vessel movements, weather reports and pontoon tank contents.
  • Liaise with marine logistics regarding PSV routing and requirements.
  • Ensure effective communication links with the Deck Foreman regarding vessel activities and transfers.
  • Efficient log-keeping system for marine controls.
  • Supervise the loading of fuel/water in accordance with relevant procedures.
  • Operate the installation in accordance with the instructions /guidelines provided in the stability operations manual.
  • Maintain vessels tank inspection plan with regards to Ballast and Fuel tanks etc. in line with Lloyd’s requirements.
  • Lead marine / deck departments in safety initiatives & programmes.
  • Ensure appropriate operation and maintenance of the mooring system.
  • Provide appropriate actions to the OIM on Emergency Response Actions on marine matters.
  • Liaise with SBV regarding exercise drills involving SBV.
  • Prepare and maintain a planned ballast/deballast sequence in accordance with the stability operations manual.
  • Supervising the activities of the Marine Control Room Operators, ensuring marine systems are set and operated within their trip and alarm parameters.
  • Act as AA / IA (M) under ISSOW.
Skills
  • Stability Level 3
  • GMDSS & CAA Licenses
  • Ship Security Officer or Officer in Charge of the Watch
  • ISSOW Level 2 (AA)
  • Ability to deploy engineering & operational standards/ procedures that meet both regulatory and safety standards.
  • Ability to identify, investigate, audit and control technical change (within limit of discipline knowledge)
  • Ability to co-ordinate with project/ planning engineers to plan, monitor and control project activities Input into project/ asset plans in timely fashion.
