Marine Technical Engineer Job in UK

 

Reporting to the Marine Systems Technical Authority. The role will act as a technical specialist for all Subsea 7 assets specifically focused on marine engineering, planned maintenance and equipment upgrades.

 

Main tasks and responsibilities include:

 

  • Focal point for Marine Engineering technical consultancy and planned maintenance systems.
  • Analyse results of condition monitoring systems and if required initiate changes to Planned or Condition Based Maintenance Systems.
  • Assist in review and creation of technical specifications.
  • A key member, responsible for supporting theVessel Superintendents with technical operating issues and Offshore teams.
  • Promote planned maintenance across the fleet and encourage users to engage with the systems/procedures in place.
  • Involved in analysis of ship performance and technical improvements to be implemented in ship maintenance systems.
  • Contribute to the development of PMS implementation procedures, including philosophy, hierarchy and content.
  • Ensure that proper preventive maintenance policies are in place and support marine crew in the implementation of those policies accordingly.
  • Work within budget restraints for the efficient operation and maintenance of vessels.
  • Involved in planning and execution vessel dockings, modifications and repairs.
  • Liaise with Classification Societies and Maritime Authorities relevant to maintenance of vessel certification.
  • Interface between OEM / equipment service engineers for works onboard.
  • Liaise with external contractors when reviewing / optimising maintenance regimes.
  • Liaise with SCM (Buyers) and Logistics to ensure spare parts requisitions are dealt with in due time in order to not jeopardize operation of the vessel(s).

PERSON SPECIFICATION

 

  • Good demonstrable knowledge of offshore vessel marine engineering systems.
  • A good communicator with a range of interpersonal skills.
  • Capable of thinking ahead and anticipating vessel(s) requirements.
  • Sufficient maritime and managerial experience to provide a level of confidence within the ranks of the marine crew.
  • Thorough knowledge of marine activities relative to vessel operating parameters.
  • Sufficient technical knowledge to contribute towards the resolution of technical problems.
  • Self-motivated and happy working within a team or leading a team.
  • Able to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Travel Requirements: On occasion, worldwide.
Skills
  • Essential - Demonstrable, relevant marine/offshore experience in the capacity of Chief Engineer, 1st or 2nd Engineer.
  • Essential - STCW Marine Engineer (class 1).
  • Essential - A very good understanding of power plant and propulsion systems specific to offshore vessels.
  • Essential - Experience in Vessel Dry Docks and repair periods.
  • Desirable - Worked previously or presently working within an offshore vessel operator’s technical department.
