Taking command of the vessel and its crew
Leading and motivating the vessel crew on familiarisation and compliance with the safety management system
Induction training of visitors, employees and other authorised personnel
Managing crew discipline, dealing with issues as appropriate and escalating to local management where required
Compliance with policies and procedures authorised by Svitzer and consistent with statutory obligations including quality assurance and ISM procedures
Participation in operational improvement exercises and liaise with local management on improvement of operational procedures
Supervision and assistance with maintenance as necessary
The preparation of operational reports as required
A minimum Master <35m NC Certificate of Competency or equivalent
A Radio Operators Certificate of Proficiency or Global Maritime Distress and Safety System Certificate of Proficiency
Provide First Aid (HLTAID003) and Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) (HLTAID001) statements of attainment
A current AMSA Medical and a valid MSIC or ‘Job Ready’ MSIC Application (or proof of ability to obtain)
Prior experience operating azimuth stern drive tugs would be highly advantageous
A commitment to leadership, and the ability to work as part of an team and build excellent working relationships with external customers
Ability to work under pressure, particularly in emergency situations
Attention to detail and ability to effectively prioritise tasks
Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written
Good problem-solving and fault-finding skills
