Offshore Crane Operator

Job Responsibilities

  • Operates the cranes of the Field platforms. Reports malfunctions or defects. Observes all safety rules and regulations. Assists maintenance, production, construction and safety crews as required. Responsible for safety of personnel and equipment on helideck during helicopter operations. Observes all safety rules and regulations concerning landings, take offs, shutdowns and refueling of aircrafts. Coordinates with radio operator and flight crews
  • Operates the cranes by loading and unloading all types of material and equipment in accordance with specific lifting procedures. Transports under special circumstances (bad weather conditions) personnel by basket from mains platforms to boats and vice versa. Includes following up on movement of material between the different locations to ensure they are placed at the right destinations. Carries out all lifting operations in accordance to safety rules and company regulations
  • Carries out general inspection of cranes prior to operating them. Includes checking condition of wire ropes, brake system. bolts, pins and similar items and reports any potential defect or malfunction to your Supervisor
  • Assists maintenance and safety crews when carrying out works on cranes. Includes repositioning crane arm, lowering or lifting pulley, testing equipment, etc., as instructed by maintenance or safety crew
  • Performs other similar or related duties such as, carrying out Rigger's duties helping other areas
  • Assist with the activities as they relate to cargo handling, loading, and unloading to include, but not limited to Loading/offloading of crude oil, crude washing tank, tank cleaning, freight, and maintenance of related equipment
  • Inspection and proper storage of slings and related lift and rigging equipment
  • General maintenance activities as directed by the proper Authority
  • Assist in Helicopter operations as & when required
  • Maintain a high degree of HS&E awareness
  • To ensure cargo activities, and equipment are fully operational and critically maintained in accordance with procedures
  • Ensuring a safe place of work by complying with Permit to Work (PTW) system and safe working procedure(s)
     

Scope of work
 

  • Rig assistance during workover operations
  • Heavy lifts from/to vessel
  • Completion equipment/tubing handling (ESP and 4-1/2” TBG Racks)
  • Rig Up/Rig Down of Snubbing Unit
  • Personnel transfer to support vessel
Skills
  • A number of years relevant experience in a similar position offshore, in an international location
  • Valid Offshore BOSIET, HUET & EBS Certification
  • Valid Offshore Crane Operator Stage 3 Certification
  • Valid Lifting and Rigigng certifciation
     

Job-Specific Skills:

Experience and knowledge of the following;
 

  • FPSO experience an advantage
     

PC Application Skills:
 

  • IT literate with proficiency in word processing
     

Personal Attributes:
 

  • Competent in communicating in English language, verbal, reading and writing
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment alongside other technical disciplines
