Wood Commissioning is currently seeking an Operations Lead for an initial onshore BP Project role based in Aberdeen to support work preparation, followed by an offshore North Sea 3:3 rota helping to drive execution

PAYE engagement on a 12 month contract basis to commence asap

The successful candidate will support the construction engineering / readiness phase and the construction execution phase by performance managing the EPC contractor interfaces with the asset operations along with the project execution team requirements

Key Accountabilities:
 

  • Comply and ensure team members adhere to BP's Project OMS program and Vendor and Site HSE policies
  • Intervene or have appropriate conversations with team members around safe work practices if required
  • Shall notify supervision of all unsafe acts, near misses and incidents
  • Lead by example with regards to company’s HSSE policy
  • Facilitate meetings as required and represent the commissioning team at other project team meetings
  • Oversee the development of all static & dynamic commissioning procedures
  • Represent the Operations under execution project team in key meetings with other project teams (EPC, Operations, Engineering, Construction, etc.)
  • Interface effectively with project personnel (project leadership and engineering staff), operations team, contract field construction personnel and vendor support staff
     

Onshore Responsibilities:
 

  • Single point of contact for Construction / Commissioning CoW readiness
  • Identification of CoW requirements for Project activity
  • Setting expectations with their teams
  • Internal performance management & reporting
  • Input to procedures & work packs
  • Input into Project Operations Bridging Document & identify areas to improve efficiency
  • Single Operations approach between CSU, Construction & Services
  • Identify Training & Competence requirements – support, track and report on training progress
     

Offshore Responsibilities:
 

  • Part of the Project Leadership Team, reporting into the Project Execute Lead
  • Key interface between the Project and Asset Operations team, working closely with the Project execution team and the Asset OIM, PTL, MTL & SSL in areas such as SimOps, CoW & Resourcing
  • Manage Project Ops / CSU Team offshore & ensure the correct priorities are being worked
  • Safety Leadership – Conduct Self Verification’s & Audits etc
  • Act on CoW none compliance / quality issues for the Project
  • Lessons Learned embedding – Identify potential issues and Proactively respond
  • Single point of contact for Project team or Core teams for Project / Operations issues
  • Single point of contact for Commissioning & Construction for CoW issues
  • Attend meetings agreed with Project / Operations (e.g. Leadership Meeting)
Skills
  • Recognised Technical Apprenticeship
  • Technical qualification – ONC in Engineering (or equivalent) preferred or BTEC / C&G etc
  • BOSIET / MIST/ CA- EBS / Shoulder Measurements / OGUK Medical
  • Company mandatory training (Induction, Risk Assessment etc)
  • IT Literate (Excel / Word / PowerPoint)
     

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
 

  • Significant offshore project Operations experience with a proven track record in support of upstream projects or production
  • Advanced relevant work experience, preferable in the oil and gas industry
  • Demonstrated track record for HSE leadership and delivery
  • Extensive experience in Operations, Project execution and start-up on Oil and Gas Major Projects
  • Extensive experience within the field of commissioning and certification
  • Knowledge of SIMOPS, COW, LOTO operating systems
  • Experience in working with construction and / or operations is desirable
  • Knowledge of commissioning criteria, standards and technical practices
  • Good understanding of Control of Work
  • Good Performance Management & Reporting Skills
  • Ability to identify & resolve problems

  • Excellent interpersonal, technical, communications, organizing and planning skills; able to communicate with technicians, foremen, as well as middle management.
  • Self-motivation and a high level of individual initiative and self-reliance will be required
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills
  • Skilled in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to lead a diverse team within a fast-paced environment
