Operations Support Engineer

Job Responsibilities

  • Review current Spoolbase and PG Vessel facilities, operations and procedures and build models suitable for implementation at most/all sites and PG vessels.
  • Perform operational assessment of current Spoolbase configuration for upcoming projects and identify expansion/improvement requirements.
  • Provide engineering support to Pipeline Group Project and Production departments.
  • Prepare stalk storage plans (tie-in with planning).
  • Support and supervise Spoolbase CAPEX projects required for the fabrication within Spoolbases or on PG vessels and production lines, supporting processes e.g. EHTF, tensioners, insertion, J-lay / S-Lay fabrication.
  • Support business case development for the introduction of Equipment and facility improvements
  • Capture lessons learnt and feedback to Spoolbases, vessels and suppliers.
  • Develop task specific equipment requirements such as pipe in pipe, tie-ins, lining, ready systems, data loggers, pipe handling equipment etc. and provide specifications.
  • Support local infrastructure projects being proposed by the regional operations, vessel operations or Spoolbase management and ensure Subsea 7 policies and standards are being incorporated appropriately.
  • Develop pipe handling and facility equipment for efficiency improvement, considering automation and safety innovations and participate in project HIRA’s and equipment risk assessments as and when required.
  • Take responsibility for safe implementation of new equipment, including procedures and training.
  • Facility configuration in conjunction with regional teams to support fabrication for projects such as pipe handling equipment, stalk storage, space/area availability and modelling of process execution.
  • Engage in equipment, supplier & project reviews to achieve business objectives for Safety, Quality & Productivity utilising best in class equipment & optimised production processes for all fabrication
  • Interface with Operations, Equipment teams and SCM to ensure that Subsea7 requirements are issued to our subcontractors
  • Visit Spoolbases as per direction from management to improve operational/production knowledge and understanding.

Person Specification

  • MS Office packages (Excel, Powerpoint, Project, Word, etc)
  • Engineering Degree
  • Project management
  • Site/industry experience advantageous
  • Engineering design experience advantageous
  • Engineering vocational qualification advantageous
  • CAD experience advantageous
