Principal Offshore Naval Architect

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with all disciplines (as necessary) in the preparation and development of the above
  • Undertakes Static and dynamic Naval Architectural Analysis associated with offshore platform transportation and installation of jackets and topsides
  • Prepare specifications for installation activities and equipment - including for float-over installation/mating.
  • Identify and recommend available vessels for transportation and installation operations.
  • Assess transportation routes and recommend applicable design criteria.
  • Make recommendations for alternative installation concepts and arrangements
  • Ensures compliance with specifications as well as applicable code requirements and national / international standards.
  • Support Client in specifying requirements for transportation and installation.
  • Prepares or checks design reports to fully document transportation and installation design to demonstrate compliance with design codes and specifications
  • Reviews relevant client provided data for transportation and installation implications and requirements
  • Reports on work status / problem areas / needs
Skills
  • Master’s Degree or equivalent in appropriate engineering subject.
  • Chartered Engineer and member of appropriate engineering institution
  • Experience in offshore substructure engineering and analysis
  • Experience with use of MOSES, ANSYS-AQWA and SACS, and other applicable naval architectural software.
  • Experience with analyzing a range of offshore installation methods including lifting, launching, float-over, etc.
  • Willing to be part of a team, but also have a flexible approach when required to work in small groups
