Ship Performance Consultant

Job Responsibilities

  • Undertake project work (solely or as part of a team) that will include data analysis, modelling, and occasional attendance on vessels, at yards or model testing facilities
  • Carry out field work that will include installation of instrumentation, setting up data acquisitions systems, and acquiring data either in situ or remotely
  • Carry out data analysis to draw conclusions in areas such as ship performance and condition monitoring.
  • Produce deliverables to the defined scope of work including high quality technical reports according to established procedures, on time and within budget.
  • Liaise with stakeholders on project progress and discussion of deliverables, including suggesting alternative solutions where required. Assume responsibility for project management and administration through to closure where necessary.
  • Support on the ship performance digital products development team on an ‘as required’ basis, as defined by the line manager.
  • Pro-actively share knowledge with the team and the company at large for technical and promotional purposes.
  • Build a network of contacts in order to gain knowledge and promote business.
  • Achieve targets for chargeable time in specialist area, in line with team management expectations.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Pursue Continuing Professional Development and maintain a high degree of discipline, knowledge, and awareness.
Skills
  • A degree or equivalent from a tertiary organisation recognised by Lloyd’s Register within the field of marine, mechanical engineering, or data science. Post graduate degree in engineering (MSc, MEng, or PhD) is not required but would be an asset.
  • Proven ability in the technical domains of data acquisition and advanced data analysis.
  • Knowledge of the marine industry, naval architecture, maritime energy efficiency and decarbonisation.
  • Ability to apply theoretical, analytical, and numerical skills for modelling, data interpretation, and problem classification, in order to solve complex challenges.
  • Proficiency with Python and source code repository, and web tool development would be highly advantageous.
  • Ability to work on your own or as part of a team on larger projects.
  • Strong consultancy and engineering-oriented mindset focused towards digital and data innovation in the maritime sector.
  • Ambitious, positive, client-oriented, and self-motivated attitude.
  • Flexible and adaptable to new challenges while producing innovative solutions.
  • Willing to travel when required.
  • Proficiency in the English language commensurate with the work and adapts the communication style in accordance with the audience.
