Who You’ll Be Working With

While offshore you will be working closely with the team of Surveyors and Engineers to ensure all survey equipment is working effectively and data is collected efficiently and accurately. You will communicate regularly with the team onboard the vessel and when required clients.

Here’s What a Typical Day Would Be Like

  • Operate online survey software and monitor the data quality to ensure the survey specification is achieved.
  • Prepare reports including mobilisation and calibration reports.
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate vessel survey folders, comprehensive handover notes and surveying logs during any watch periods.
  • Maintain effective communication with the offshore team.
  • Ensure integrity and functionality of survey spread is maintained throughout the project.
  • Maintain and develop experience with processing software and techniques, and develop skills across various offshore disciplines.
Skills
  • BSc / HND or equivalent in relevant survey related discipline OR equivalent vocational qualifications and experience.
  • Minimum of 180 days offshore survey experience on a variety of survey projects.
  • Proficient in the use of at lease one online survey package.
  • Proficient in the operation of commonly used survey sensors, e.g. GNSS, Gyro, MRU, USBL.
  • Proficient in the use of Windows, Word and Excel.
  • Sound understanding of the principles of real-time positioning, data acquisition and data QC.
  • An excellent communicator (verbally and written) and able to form good working relationships with clients and colleagues at all levels.
  • Disciplined, self-motivated and flexible team player.
  • Able to work flexible hours, travel when required and work offshore.
  • Must live within a reasonable distance of a major UK airport.
     

Desirable

  • Membership of relevant professional body e.g. CICES.
  • Land survey experience including operation of total stations.
  • Experience of survey calibrations.
  • Experience in the operation of MBES and/or INS.
  • Proficient in the use of CAD.
