Conduct inspection surveys and certification of ships in service to ascertain the condition of mechanically functioning hulls, machinery, equipment, and equipage to determine repairs required for vessels to meet requirements for classification. Conduct inspection and certification of shipbuilding materials and of ships during construction. Review data packages to ensure compliance with design approval reports. The position requires up to 10% domestic travel.
Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Marine Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and two (2) years’ of experience as (all levels): Marine Engineer/Surveyor, Marine Surveyor/Auditor, Surveyor/Auditor, Marine Auditor, Marine Surveyor, Surveyor, Surveyor/Engineer, Marine Engineer, Technical Officer, Naval Architect, or related role.
