Reporting to the Regional Technical Manager, your key responsibilities in this position will include:
Serve as technical expert and provide support to East Coast management and port operations and technical teams
Act as the business process ownership for systems supporting technical management
Oversee the implementation and development of the maintenance and repair procedures
Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers and contractors
Assist the commercial team with new projects and tender submissions including planning for fleet renewals
Oversight for OPEX and CAPEX budget creation and adherence
Encourage innovation amongst teams and ensure ideas generated are appropriately considered
Attend and represent the business at technical, marine and industry forums
To be successful in this position, you will be able to demonstrate:
Tertiary qualifications in engineering or naval architecture
Experience in a similar marine engineering or vessel management position, leading a team or function within a matrix organisation
Experience liaising with classification societies and statutory bodies on vessel certification & documentation compliance
An understanding of various mechanical equipment and systems including diesel engines, power generation, dynamic positioning, tug propulsion systems and hydraulics
Experience with budgets, forecasts and the ongoing review and optimisation of costs
A solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to perform root cause analysis and suggest practical, innovative, and timely solutions
Ability to work autonomously, demonstrating a strong degree of initiative and confidence to make decisions
Excellent people skills and the ability to develop relationships with all internal and external stakeholders
Competency in MS Office Suite and basic understanding of computer network hardware and system architecture
The flexibility to travel to port locations as required to meet operational demands
