Technical Superintendent

Job Responsibilities

  • Acts as the first point of contact for the shipboard management team in respect to technical issues and emergencies.
  • Actively cooperates with and supports the onboard team of the assigned ships.
  • Understand in full the contractual agreements with customers and all major contracts that have been concluded on his behalf.
  • Participates in the development, maintenance and updating of the maintenance and repairs plan (PMS) for the assigned ships and ensures its accurate execution.
  • Monitors the efficient operation of the equipment and machineries of the assigned ships.
  • Identify potential discrepancies from operational standards and proposes and/or implements solutions that will enhance the efficiency, environmental standard, health & hygiene, performance and safety of the ships.
  • Reviewing the compliance of deliverables from subcontractors with agreements and requirements.
  • Ensures that all vessels certificates are valid and up to date in close liaison with Ship Staff, TO, Crewing, MSI and LPSQ department
  • Manages vessel visits and inspections effectively. Ensures that vessel visit reports are made timely and accurate.
  • Shares relevant findings and observations with all departments.
  • Assessment of management level officers as per company policy.
  • Evaluates the quotations/bids received and gives the approval to proceed with the placing of the order and ensures the timely supply of all required spare parts, stores and services to the ships.
  • Ensures that prior approving Purchase Orders they are in line with the budget and that the cash position of the vessel/owner is reviewed, and the status permits the placing of the Purchase Order.
  • Ensures that spare parts, stores and services are of desired quality and paid in time.
  • Unless there are valid reason (e.g. the item has been requested directly by the client or a framework agreement is in place the standard procedure is to have 3 quotations.
  • Reviews potential improvements and proposals of solutions on technical issues identified on board, ashore-or from the owner.
  • Ensures that all assigned reporting requirements are fulfilled as per the reporting matrix.
  • Prepare accurate budgets and follow up its accurate execution. Identify, report and provide solutions for potential discrepancies
  • ​Plans and executes:

         - Maintenance plan

         - maintenance and repair activities

         - technical inspections

         - spare parts

         - technical training of the crew

         - vessel upgrades and refurbishments

         - dry- and wet docks

         - bunker operations

         - any other technical projects

 

Skills

Education and Qualifications:

- B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture or equivalent, or

- Engineer's qualification

 

Work Experience:

- 3 years of sailing experience as Senior Officer, or

- 3 years of shore experience as a technical superintendent with a ship management/ owning company

- Experience in cruise sector desirable
