Develop an annual Training Plan incorporating the MTC utilisation in line with the MTC management review under ISO 9001. Keep the plan updated and all relevant parties informed of changes to any upcoming training schedules.
Ensure BSM MTC are appropriately staffed with the required amount of qualified instructors for the courses being delivered and the attendance capacity.
Ensure training facilities, equipment and simulators are adequately utilized to their full potential.
Arrangement of annual internal audits and external audits for procedural verification.
Prepare and provide information for annual budgets as required.
Participate in Fleet Officer’s Meetings within the MTC region to provide an effective platform for ship and shore-based organizations to exchange information, address identified areas of concern and to intensify bonding with the Seafarers.
Supporting Training Superintendents by facilitating subjects as and when required. Participating in the assessment and evaluation of Senior sea-going staff
Carry out evaluation of training methods and techniques employed by instructors / facilitators with the view of continuous improvement including regular performance reviews of training staff and periodical attendance of courses.
Ensure succession planning and the development of MTC training and administration staff to undertake additional responsibilities as needs may require.
Ensure close coordination of activities with the Corporate Manager Fleet Personnel Training and Development with regards to local training developments and needs as well as communication with SMC, CSC and other BSM departments.
Skills
Work Experience:
At least 5 years’ experience in a managerial position within a ship management / owning company.
And/or at least 5 years in a senior educational role ideally within the maritime industry.
Sailing experience as a Master onboard, is a must.
Qualification:
IMO Model Course 6.09 – Training course for instructors, or equivalent non-IMO course.
IMO Model course 6.10 – Train the simulator trainer and assessor (where applicable).
MRM Facilitator – Swedish Club Academy (where delivered).
Evidence of management level and Leadership training (can also be COC under STCW Manila Rev.)
Assessment, Examination and Certification of Seafarers Course (AECS)
Recognized ISO 9001 internal auditor or ISM lead auditor’s course.
