Tug Master Job In Australia


  • The command of the vessel and its crew

  • Induction training of visitors, employees and other persons as authorised

  • Compliance with policies and procedures authorised by Svitzer and consistent with statutory obligations including quality assurance and ISM procedures

  • Participation in operational improvement exercises as required and liaise with Svitzer management regarding the improvement of operational procedures

  • Motivate the vessel crew to be familiar with requirements of, and to comply with, the safety management systems

  • Manage crew discipline, dealing with issues as appropriate and escalating to management where required

  • Supervision and assistance with maintenance as necessary

  • The preparation of operational reports as required
Skills

 


  • A minimum Master >24m NC Certificate of Competency or equivalent

  • Unilever Trained

  • A relevant Radio Operators Certificate of Proficiency or Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) Certificate of Proficiency

  • Statements of attainment in Provide First Aid (HLTAID003) (at least 2 years validity) and Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) (HLTAID001) (at least 12-months validity)

  • A current AMSA Medical and a valid MSIC (or the ability to obtain)

  • Extensive experience in the maritime industry (harbour towage experience would be an advantage)

  • Proven ability to lead and work as part of an effective team

  • Ability to work under pressure, particularly in emergency situations

  • Attention to detail and ability to effectively prioritise tasks

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (both verbal and written) skills

  • The right to live and work in Australia
